n00b from Memphis
Hey there...
Just ordered myself a 2011 Specialized Hard Rock Sport Disc 29 (21" frame).
Didn't care much for the color - white and brown - but it'll be here end of next week vs. end of the month for the black one.
I know it's missing quite a bit when you compare it to some of the bikes in the $1000.00-range, but Specialized is the only company I could find who is offering 29ers in this price range...and I didn't want to spend any more than I did ($689.00 OTD).
Looking forward to getting on the trail...heck, I haven't ridden much since around 1998...and that was on a 1992-vintage Fuji Sand Blaster!
So, this will be my first decent bicycle ever!
I'm looking forward to riding for fun, and for fitness - I'm a pretty avid motorcyclist - both street ('07 R1) and off-road ('01 YZ-250), so I think this will be good training for that.
Anybody from Memphis area here???
John

Hey man, I'm in the wolfchase area. I got a bike last month to commute on and its been pretty liberating. Just moved here a little less than a year ago from Indiana so I haven't had a chance to check out the bike trails around here but I'd imagine they are pretty cool. I've been looking for a good road bike off and on since I got my commuter but probably won't get one for a little while still. Be safe!
BTW, Welcome to the forums... There is a ton of good information on here

KHS Urban Express. My co workers think I'm crazy for riding to work. They arrive dragging their feet walking in the door, and I'm doing laps around them at 6am. That bike you ordered looks pretty awesome. Keep me posted on how it rides!

Though my bike isn't real fancy, (it's just a Jamis road bike), it spent more on it than I ever had on a bike! They're so expensive, and I finally gave in and bought one I knew would feel good to ride. Hope yours works out!

It's crazy that you can spend up to 1000 bucks, and still basically be on an entry-level bike!
