Hello, everyone. Sixty-one years young and bike-crazy for past two years since retiring. Current favorite ride is 1950s Robin Hood coaster-brake single-speed, nick-named ARH
(The Allmighty...). This 28-inch wheeled veteran wheels me into a quieter world that was with a sure-footed smoothness that needs to be experienced to be believed. I ride for pure pleasure, for exercise. I buy, rescue, trade for interesting and useful bicycles, tinker and clean, pass them on. The older the bike the better. Particular love for old CCM and Raleigh-built road-bikes. While The Almighty has original back wheel, am currently running modern alloy-rimmed 38-622 up front. Interested in period replacement. Anyone?

How do you get parts for the 1950s bike?

Acquired it only a short time ago and need a front wheel. CCM maniac in my area and I am told he has 28 inch wheels to be had. For other pieces it will certainly be catch as catch can, find them used on ebay, craigslist, etc. It will be worth it because the bike is a phenomenal ride.

Hows the cycling in NS (always wanted to visit there - aiming for next Summer)

Hello, Al. Nice to hear from you. Truth be told I am exclusively a townie. Returned to biking two years ago after far too long a lay-off. When younger enjoyed exploring country roads but haven't done so in decades and that was in small-town areas of southern Ontario. Will say that the climate and geography of this area are beautiful and your visit highly recommended should you make it here next summer. There are several threads which deal with biking in Halifax and area; I've read them and they seem accurate and helpful. Sorry I could be of no further aid. Keep riding.... bikedoggie.
