Hi from Swannanoa (near Asheville), NC
Hello, BikeForums!
I'm a middle-age convert to cycling. A former college cross country runner, I found last year that my 46-year-old knees could no longer take the pounding, so here I am. Got started Fall of '09 and got into a steady training schedule this Spring.
I live in Swannanoa, NC, and get to ride through the beautiful scenery of Western North Carolina—mostly solo rides at this point. I plan to join some group rides before long as I get my base fitness level established.
I've learned a lot reading threads at BF while researching my first road bike purchase and work on improving my skills.
Glad to be here!

Welcome to BikeForums.
Stop by the Southeast Regional subforum and say hello to the locals. Several NC and a few WNC folks there.

Welcome to Bike Forums! The neat thing about cycling is that it is definitely less harsh on your joints than running is. It's something a lot gentler to the body but gives great excercise! Glad to hear you are cycling.
