Hi from North of Boston

Great forum, I finally decided to register. I have two bikes: a mountain bike that I ride to the commuter rail station about 3 miles from home and an old Trek road bike from the early 1990s that I've just pulled out of storage after many years. Getting back on the old Trek was an eye-opener. I'd forgotten how much fun it is to ride fast. It's addictive. My wife and I did a 4 day self-guided tour in southern France this summer, and just that little taste of bicycle touring has us wanting more.

One thing I'm discovering about cycling is that buying the bike is just the entry fee. After that there's an unending list of things I seem to want or need. Right now on my list are new brake shoes for the road bike (the 19 year old ones on the bike squeal like a pig) and smoother tires for the mountain bike, and ones with some puncture protection.

Thanks and Hi.

That's another fun part of cycling. Buying the things you need (or want) to make cycling even MORE fun! Amazing how easy it is to forget how fun cycling is. Glad you pulled your bike out and started to use it. They feel lonely when nobody pays attention, you know....
