howdy folks

I just joined up, been riding about 2 weeks, now on my second bike, the first one was a craigslist special that started life at wally world or some such place, it could not handle my big backside so I went and bought a decent bike, a trek 3500 that I really like
I am 37, from oklahoma city and grossly overweight and out of shape, the doc said I needed less beer and more exercise and since I am paying her for her opinion, I figure I should follow her advice. I have primary lymphedema which cause my lower legs to swell to obscene proportions, but me, the doc and a couple of physical therapist have gotten the swelling down, but to keep it down, I need to improve my overall health

I don't plan on ever competing, just riding for the fun of it and for the exercise

ya'll have a great day

Welcome oilfieldtrash to Bike Forums.
Sound like you have a good doctor.
Keep the legs turning.
Ride slow and safe.
Fun is what it is all about.

Toured through your city last summer.
Enjoyed it.

You will find plenty of encouragement if you go into the Clydesdale forum. The great thing about cycling is that when you stop pedaling, you continue rolling along without putting any strain on your legs, while you get your breath back.
