Hi from Colorado!
Who I am:
My name is Dan, I'm 37, happily married with 2 young daughters (18 mos. and 3 y/o). I live in Parker, CO, which is about 30 miles south of downtown Denver. I became serious about cycling when I was about 15, and aside from my college years, I've been pretty avid since beginning. I did some amateur racing in high school, but I wasn't really all that fast, so I never pursued it too much. Plus, I'm not a terribly competitive person. I'm still not incredibly fast (average 16-18 MPH on most rides), but I love riding. I mostly enjoy road biking on my Specialized Roubaix, but mountain bike from time to time too on my Kona; however, these days my Kona is hitched up to the Burley for hauling around the little ones in the summer. I am a school counselor, so play the Mr. Mom role in the summer, which means most of my riding happens with added child/Burley weight (which is great training), or in the evenings when my wife gets home from work. She is training for her first marathon in September too, so my biking has taken a backseat to that - which is OK - she deserves her hobbies too!
Lately I've been daydreaming about purchasing a touring bike within the next couple of years, and heading out on solo weekend trek's that would include riding all day and camping at night. I'm not opposed to riding with others, but don't have many friends that bike like I do (most are recreational mountain bikers or hardcore road bikers; not much inbetween like me). I rather enjoy the solitude of riding alone anyway.
Recent cycling highlights include a couple of solo centuries last summer, yearly ascents of Mt. Evans (the highest paved road in North America), as well as finally getting around the riding Colorado National Monument in Grand Junction!
Happy to be here!

Hey, thanks 10 Wheels! I was actually just browsing there a bit and there are some great discussions. Lots of info to absorb, which is fine because it'll be quite some time before I purchase my ideal touring bike.
