Hey Hey to ALL! Newbie here and I could use some help!

Hey Everyone! Newbie here in the Atlanta area. Actually, just North in the Roswell/Woodstock area. Just started road and mountain biking a couple months ago. If anyone wants to offer any advice I'm totally open for it! Currently I'm riding at Blankets Creek and the Silver Comet Trail. (I'm still a little scared, I mean timid, to ride on the road with cars). Look forward to getting to know a few people with the love for biking!

Hello nwilso,
Scared is a good thing.
Try to find some road riders and ride with them.
That is the way I learned.

Thanks! Yeah, the area I live in is pretty rider friendly with tons of riders around. I know there a lot of group rides around so I hope that I can make a few friends and learn how to group ride. I'm hoping to one day be able to do some good charity rides and then maybe some racing. Here's to a future full of cramps, sweat, and puke : )

32,000 miles with no cramps. I take 400 mg of Magnesium everyday.

I'm definitely going to look into doing that. I have a microfit test scheduled for next Tues. and a date with a nutritionist next Weds. That will atleast help with my diet, but Magnesium sounds good to me!

Now I have a question and there might be some laughing... how do you know when someone has replied to your post on here? lol...

Welcome! To work my way up to riding with traffic, I started riding early mornings on the weekends, going further and further as I got better until I'd done my commute route a few times. So then when I started commuting, the road itself was already familiar and it was easier to deal with more cars. My routes are all in town though, most with a 35 mph speed limit.

Hello

nwilso25 08-26-10 08:29 PM

That's an awesome idea. I definitely will need to start out small and Saturdays are usually slow around my town.
