Hi from Sacramento
Hi, I am new to the forum and pretty new to biking. (I grew up with a pony, okay? He didn't require training wheels but the maintenance was a killer.)
Almost all of my riding is on the American River Bike Trail with my boyfriend, who would like to be training for a century but instead has to put up with me and my very slow bike. We are doing the 50K version of the Davis Century ride next week. It's neat to see all the Sacramento commuters here -- my boyfriend bike commutes to Sac State and to work, but since my office is only a few blocks from home it takes me longer to put on my helmet and carry the bike downstairs than it does to just walk there.
I have been reading the forum obsessively because I am shopping for my first road bike right now, after spending the last couple of years on a Specialized Crossroads which I have decided I kind of hate. Lots of good information here!

Hi xeney! Welcome to the forums. I'll be doing the Foxy too, I already live in Davis. If it's windy as all out, I'll do the 50K, otherwise I'm doing the 100K.
I have the Crossroads as my commuter bike, after I bought the Dolce last month, also my first road bike! What a difference. It's huge. The Crossroads is a heavy bike, and you'll increase speed about 3mph, no kidding. I liked the Dolce and the Trek WSD on test rides, but chose the Dolce because it had the 700c tires.
Let's hope for beautiful weather this Saturday!

Oh, definitely let's hope for less wind -- this weekend on the bike trail was miserable with the wind. I was riding my boyfriend's steel-frame mountain bike and I still felt like I was going to be blown into the next county.
The Dolce is definitely on my list although I haven't found one in my size (probably a 54cm for that one, since they don't have a 52 or 53) to test ride. So far my favorite by a long shot has been the Bianchi Eros, but the amateur bike mechanic who lives in my house doesn't like the Mirage components and I am not yet committed to spending more for better stuff. It is a dilemma.

Since you'll be in town, I think Wheelworks on F street has a 54 Dolce, when I was last there!
