Geezer
I'm 56. The 32-year-old Raleigh Super Course came up from the basement this spring, after a decade in which backpacking was my major recreation, and four years of knee problems/surgery/rehab. I'd halfway kept up maintenance, so all it needed for starters were new tires and the lock sawn off (swore I still knew the combination). I'd been doing about 150 mi/week on the recumbent stationary to that point, after about 18 months when I couldn't pedal without pain. Outdoors is more fun.
I do mostly fast training rides, 15-20 miles, in part because I have a couple good nearby spots mostly free from automotive idiots, and because I don't have the leisure for long rides. I'm actively looking for a second bike, probably more steel, because I love it, but I might consider joining the 21st century. Thought I'd sign on here because the people in the vintage forum have been so much help to me without knowing it.
