Beginner from Colorado Springs

Hi all, I'm in the process of joining the Southern Colorado Velo Bike Club, looking to get into road racing! I'm a 38 year young female who has been inline speed skating since I was 24, competing at the National level since the age of 27, but it's just gotten so that there just are not enough racing/competition opportunities in inline speed skating (at least in my area), which is why I'm looking to get into bike racing. I am hungry to RACE!! So anyway, I'm excited, I just want get started and DO THIS!!

I am NE of Colorado Springs, east of I-25, just moved here in May. LOVE it here, this is my kind of place, I'm big into doing things outdoors, love hiking too for example. I'm just a competitive junkie looking for some action, LOL.

I live over near Woodmen and Powers. There's a lot of good riding up on the North end of town. If you see a gorilla on a Paramount headed towards Peyton that's probably me. Best LBS I've found is CS West in Old Colorado City. The north end shops are a little to "duuuuuude" for my taste.

Sounds like you're not too far from me then. I recently found a Rails to Trails path that I'm gonna start biking, it runs to Peyton: https://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/W...head_Peyton_CO I'll be able to take off straight from my house, ride down to it, go to the end and come back, should be 26.2 miles for me. I'm gonna try to get out there whenever I can, whenever I'm training by myself. Are you on a bike team then?

Hello and welcome Krypto! Went out to Colorado Springs on vacation a few years ago, beautiful country. I can see why you love it there. What a great place for a bike ride or anything else outdoors.

Per your comment on my intro thread; Just yesterday went over and took a day ride on the Katy, the section between Sedalia and Boonville. Great day, great ride, one of my favorites!

Yep, I did that section too, it's wonderful! I can't remember whether I went past Boonville or not but I know that one day I rode about 50 miles of the Katy Trail.
