Help ID Schwinn 12 speed
Hello to all...A few years ago picked up a Schwinn lightweight at a thrift store. What caught my eye were the sew up tires (flat) quick release hubs, Shimano parts, and more. Bought it on the spot for $20.00. After cleaning up the bike, I replaced the tubes and tires, brake pads, tightened the spokes and trued the wheels. That's all. It's a lot of fun to ride. Now if I could only id the bike so I can find out what I'm riding. Here's what I've got.
The bike is black and was repainted so no decals. It's a 12 speed. Serial #on the bottom bracket reads J 6651...The badge is round and reads "Schwinn Chicago" and the number on the badge is 3296. I found a G2 marking on the bottom of the top tube near the front.
The brakes are Dia-Comp side pulls with quick release. The crank is "Sugino GLP" and the chainrings are 52/42. The freewheel is "Shimano" and is 14/15/17/20/24/28. The derailler is "Shimano light action". Handlebar is a drop style and is engraved "SR Road Champion". The stem just says "custom". The seat post is "SR Laprade" Wheels: Hubs are "Maillard" low flange quick release and the rims are "Wenmann 913-622/700c. It's came with 2 water holders and the brackets are part of the bike frame. Couple of other markings. On the bottom bracket the cable guide says "made in Canada". There is protective washer on the top of the headset and it reads "Made in Japan". Can someone tell me what I have. I can send pictures if needed just email. "rs4thomas@sbcglobal.net" Thanks in advance. I added some pictures.
