Suntour Cyclone hoods?? HELP??

Hi guys, Great forum ya got here! I have a dilemma that hopefully someone can advise me. I have an early 80's MINT Trek 560. It has the complete Suntour Cyclone group. I need the rubber brake lever hoods NON-AERO, the older type with the cables coming from the top (preferably black). I've searched the internet, to no avail. Does anyone know where I can get a pair, or does someone know of an equivalent that will fit?? I read Dia Compe Royal Gran Compe, Campy 1st Gen, and /or Modolo 912's will work, but no one seems to know for sure. You guys are my last hope before i have to break down and buy a whole new sedt of levers. I prefer keeping everything original.
Thanks all in advance!
Jeff

Check in with the Classic and Vintage Threads
They know everything pertaining to old parts.
A pic would help them greatly.

Hi Jeff,
I'm a newbie here, too. Actually, I've been lurking for years because the threads are full of excellent information as members are generous with it.

I finally registered because I'm in the same boat as you. I have decided to take matters into my own hands (er, that just popped out..).

I am venturing out to obtain materials to make my own hoods. I have so many sets of several different levers and only one set of sorry looking Weinmann hoods.
This collection includes Superbe and Modolo Pro. I understand 919s will indeed fit the Superbe levers. So, there is added value for me to make the 919s.

That is as soon as my feasibility efforts pay off. I will try the Weinmanns first because I have 'em. Then, I'll get a pair of 919s and make a few copies for the Pros and the Superbes.
There are some very cool modern materials with UV and organic oil/acid resistance qualities, as well as superior elongation coefficients. I look forward to obtaining some fine results, but we'll see.....

Anyway, I though I'd poll the forum to see if these are such needful things as to make it worthwhile to make extra sets. That is assuming I can produce a quality hood.

Anyone interested?
Cheers
