And so it begins...
...the addiction to everything road bike!
My name is Archie and I'm hooked. My little brother got me into bmx and while fun it didn't hold my attention. Enter road biking. I was captivated by the sport, not by watching tours on ESPN, not by the droves of scandalous clad spandex men who litter the streets at dawn and dusk, or even a Lance Armstrong highlight reel, it was the first time when I saw Japanese steel; Univega Japanese steel to be exact. (that and a girl totaled my car and now in need of transportation)
Now, I know Univegas are not wildly popular but when I saw the champagne Gran Turismo in near 100% stock form it had to be mine. It is in great condition cosmetically being 97% paint and decal intact, but I probably would need a tune to have it Tip Top shape. I just bought this beauty last week and I wasn't even planning on getting in the sport but like what I said I was drawn to it!
5 Days later I bought my second Univega, this time an 84' Competizione racer with SunTour Superbe components...Ohhhhhh Yeaaaaa
However, my inexperience in buying and asking the right questions left something to be desired... a true SunTour Superbe group Competizione as mine is not quite in the "zione". More details to come on a missing parts Superbe build.
None the less, my Competizione is pretty clean and original minus crankset, brake set, and headset. Yes I do have a long way to go because im a poor college student, but it will make the bike something more than just bought, it will be MADE MINE.
I will post pictures of the bikes when I have time and I will start my build of "Get in the Zione" in future posts.
Till then hello to bikeforums.net, future friends, and hello to world of knowledge and Superbe components (any and all help would be greatly appreciated).
Best,
Archie
