Hi I am new here, I do triathlons now years ago i did many cycle touring trips, I am planning a cross country ride in April 2012, conn to cali. I want to ride out for my daughters college graduation. If any one here is thinking about riding cross country please let me know. I also might turn this adventure into a fund raising event. any suggestions on how I would start that? Thanks Mike

Hello Mike, from Alan, also a newbie.
Cyclist living by Liverpool, England who has done a tandem bike ride across America.
We started in Vancouver and cycled 3,209 miles towards my sister's house in Greenville, SC.
Your planned trip for 2012 sounds great, how will you return to Stamford...cycle back ?
We did the fund raising for Cancer Research UK by giving slide shows/talks to large groups when we returned home to England.

Thanks Alan and Cbad rider, My plan is to probaly fly back to Ct. I don't have enough time to cycle back. I am in touch with a local group about raising money for their cause. i have plenty of time to work on this. I have been over to the touring site, a lot of good reads and discusions. I am deciding on what bike to use. I have a carbon that i don't think is rugged enough plus i don't want to beat it up on a trip like this. I will look into tourng bikes or using my old trek steel frame and gearing that up. I am not all that aggressive on the donation asking so that may be more difficult than the ride... i will search and see if others are riding I might hook up with.. thanks..
