Greetings from Aussie Expat in Chicago
Greetings, Aussie (ex Melbourne) living in Chicago for the past three months... Commuter and MTBer. Ride a Kona Dew on the asphalt and a Yeti 575 on the dirt..
Watching winter approach with trepidation... keen to stay on the bike for as long as possible as it is my number one source of weight loss!

I used to bike year-round in Chicago. It's rough, but possible. I did it because standing on a platform waiting for the El in the middle of winter is going to be just as cold. At least you're getting somewhere on your bike. Wear layers. Make sure your tires have good traction, and make sure you allow extra stopping time for yourself and cars. Have fun in Chicago! Love it there!
