Newbie from Motor City

After being away from biking for 20 years, I've decided that now that my kids were grown, I'd get back in the saddle and start riding again.
To demonstrate how out of touch I am, my last bike, a Miata touring bike with its triple-butted CrMo frame 18-speeds and cantilever brakess was considered fairly high tech.

I'm looking for places to ride, possibly new gear, but not off-road. I'm strictly a skinny tire street rider.

I look forward to some interesting conversation.

Road rider here.
Went to 700 X 28 tires for more security with pot hole, cracks and debris on the roads.
Interesting conversations are plentiful on Bike Forums.
Have fun and enjoy the ride.

Thanks. I remember pretzeling a rim on someone's freshly quaffed sidewalk when my front tire went into the edged groove. I haven't played Superman like that in decades, fortunately.

Ann Arbor is a fairly long distance from you but I'm sure you'll find some great riding up in your neck of the woods.
