Hi! I'm a newbie to the forum from Nashville, TN - America's Music City (if you go by that stuff) - and I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm almost 41 and haven't been on a bike regularly since the 1980's when I got my driver's license. But I'm trying to get back into it for the excercise, comraderie and personal spiritual uplift.
A good friend of mine has been a serious road cyclist for a couple of years (interspersed with the occasional trail ride). He has regaled me many times of tales from his latest metric century or charity ride and has tried to entice me to dust off my 1990's Ross Gran Tour and start with a 30 miler on Sunday mornings. Although I don't think I want to "start" at that level, I have worked the kinks out of my Ross, gotten some clipless peddals, and I'm heading out to the highway.
Thus far, I've resisted diving in with both feet because I know that I have a tendancy for "gearhead-itis". I have enjoyed learning from the members of the road cycling forum and spending my off time plotting out a path toward my sub 20-lb dream road bike (And all this before I've gone more than 100 miles on my 28-lb chrom-moly tour cycle). Now all I've got to do is convince my wife that I'll look better, feel more motivated and energetic for a measly $3000 investment. Should be no small task.....
I'm looking forward to reading this forum on a regular basis.

Welcome to the boards. I also live in the Metro area and work in Hermitage. I'm going to see how dedicated I am as the weather gets cold and wet.

It seems like you have already dived in with both feet by going 'clipless'. Before you spend any money getting yourself a fancy bike, spend $600 on a bike for your wife, or a bit more for a tandem. Good luck.
