Long time pedal pusher here!
I'm 58 years young, and have always enjoyed bicycling...from my first daring ride on a "too big" bike, to discovering my neighborhood as a boy, to delivering the Detroit News on my workhorse Schwinn Heavy Duty, and finally settling in as a recreational rider. It's all about fun and excercize.
My older brother Jim was a competitive rider since age 14, winning the MI Jr State Champ (road and track) in '63, at age 15. This was way before biking was a massively popular sport. He won a spot in the Tour de Somerville (NJ), a big national race, that same year. We took a family vacation and it was fun. Since he was The Competitor, I was happy enough just using my bike for fun and transport...guess I never had the race bug.
I remember Jim's exotic road bikes...a Frejus (italian), an Avanti (swedish), plus Carlton (great britain) and Schwinn Paramount track bikes. He worked at Mike Waldon's Continental (mostly exotics) Bike Shop too. One of the other members of his riding club had competed in the 1960 Rome Olympics. Sadly, he does not really ride anymore. But I do!
I'm currently pushing a Trek 7500 that is about 6 years old. Thinking about getting another bike, but keeping this one too. Not sure what, but this is the right place to help me find out.
A pleasure to find this place!

Welcome Buddy. Yes this is the place to find out about another bike.
Stop by the 50+ forum and the old timers (like me) can help you pick the right bike.
