Hello from Colorado!

Good afternoon! Thank you, thank you, thank you for being the community that you are. Iíve just begun my renewed addiction to cycling and have already invested a lot of time on your site educating myself on my current cycling focus Ė commuting!
I originally grew up all over as my dad was in the military but have come to call Colorado home.
Iíve had a Specialized mountain bike for the last 4 years that Iíve ridden in the summer months. My favorite rides include Red Rock Canyon, Ute Valley Park and Palmer Park. I would say that Iím still pretty ďentry-levelĒ at mountain biking but do enjoy pushing myself when the opportunity presents itself.
I just got a Cannondale Quick CX 4 for commuting about 9 miles each way. Iíve already outfitted it with fenders, a rack, bag, water bottle, toe clips and plan on getting a fancy schmancy bell to top it off! Iíve only ridden to work 2 times but can honestly say Iím smitten with bicycle commuting. The first ride was somewhat horrible as it was 37 degrees out and I didnít have the right gloves (my hands FROZE) and didnít wear glasses (causing my eyes to model Niagra Falls). Yesterday I went out and got the appropriate mittens to keep my fingers warm, glasses and also picked up a Take A Look mirror. I feel so much safer knowing what is coming up behind me. I plan to commute on my bike everyday of my work week from this point on.

I always tell people, spring is the coldest month (for cyclists) in Colorado. Enjoy your ride!

Hi Sarah, welcome to Bike Forums!1 Sounds like quite an experience with the frozen hands!! Why don't you check out the commuting section, they can tell you the best way to bundle up without restricting movement.

You also might want to check out the mtb section. Theres a lot of guys who love dirt in there.
