Newbie to this site and to cycling!
Hello!!
I was directed to this site by my other half who has been a cycling enthusiast for years. After having 3 kids - who are all now pretty much grown up, years in jobs which require only that I remain chained to a desk, computer or car, and a couple of years spent sitting on my rear with my nose in a book studying, the clock was ticking round to my fortieth year and I decided I didn't want to be fat, and unfit at forty. I was sick of feeling rough (and looking the way I felt). In short, it was high time I did something to lose weight (and there is plenty of that!) and get fit, but most of all to feel better and hopefully live a longer, healthier life.
I have often looked at my husband cycling home from work or coming back from a leisurely ride (leisurely!??) thinking, either there is something I just don't get, or he's a little insane! Having tried it myself lately though, I realise that for all these years I have been missing out and so am really looking forward to making cycling a big part of my new lifestyle.
So, after around 12 weeks of healthy eating and swimming I have lost 21lbs. A great achievement, but I still have a loooong way to go - around 80lbs in fact, but hey - I'm 20% of the way there!
So, I'll post regularly - probably in the Clydesdale forum, and I'll look forward to sharing my discovery of this sport with you!

Hi! That sounds a lot like me! I have not yet made my first adult bike purchase, but I am slowly getting there.
Way to go on the weight loss - I know how hard it is.
