Hello from Washington DC
Greetings and salutations. I seem to have missed this intro forum and instead dove right in asking questions several weeks ago. Sorry for being so rude.
I've been riding for 30 years ever since buying a Raleigh Tourist with a child seat to ferry my new son around on. Since then I''ve burned thru several Cannondales over that time ( had to stop with those bikes, as nice as they were they tended to get stolen ) and am now riding a Jamis Coda fitted out as a commuter. I ride to work routinely and to the grocery and well anywhere I can get to by bike. In a city like DC with what is supposed to be the second worst traffic in North America a bike is the preferred choice for personal transportation. I still have the Raleigh and a membership in the new CaBi bike share system ( limited to downtown for now but it is major league awesome ). I am male and perhaps a bit older at 60 than most on the forums but I seem to be holding my own. Very pleased to have found the bike forums. While there are a wealth of Local Bike Shops in the area they all in the end have something to sell and it's great to have a disinterested opinion ( or ten ) near to hand.

I like those Jamis Coda's and would be my choice of a flat-bar road bike. I'm 68 and love those hills.......on the down side.
