Hi from eastern UK (Leicester)
This is our cycle group site:
www.leicesterspokes.org.uk/
Includes ride reports, photos of foreign tours etc
It's pretty ideal cycling country round here. Rolling hills, deep countryside - especially to the east of the county - and lots of variety. Shame the drivers are so dangerously inconsiderate (is anywhere different?)!
For one or two day tours this is a great centre. You can ride south west to Warwick, Stratford on Avon and the Cotswolds. Or North-West to the Derbyshire Peak District (very energetic and lots of serious off-road riding there too) or east to the North Norfolk coast and East Anglia (easy riding, lots of accomodation, lots of wildlife and gorgeous old villages). Or just tootle round this district visit Rutland Water, Stamford, Bosworth Battlefield, lots of medieval village churches etc etc

Agreed - I went to university at Loughborough. Great countryside, and nice pubs. Charnwood forest area was beautiful. I rode a Douglas motorcycle in those days. Welcome

Yes, we often cycle in Charnwood Forest area.
I don't know how long ago you were at Loughborough Uni but you'd probably not recognise the place. An Olympic size swimming pool, a world-class indoor cricket school and plenty more has all been built in the last couple of years.

Hello & welcome,
Just checked out your site, looks very good, shame it is not closer to London, would have loved to joined up on a couple of rides/tours.
