hello from Chicago,

Hi y'all,

I was asked upon joining this list to intro myself. I'm leaving my real name off not because I want to be shady, but because too much stuff comes up already when my name is googled!

Anyway, a little about me. I was pretty much born on a bike and have always rode a bike except for a few years in college when it was just as quick to walk Now, I commute pretty regular on a touring bike. I neglected my car so I could get a nice Jamis, with moustache bars and fenders I haven't really gone touring, but I'm hoping to do at least some weekend trips this next summer, and my girlfriend and I so some nice day rides around this grand old city,,

What else? hmmm, well, my fave LSB is Boulevard bikes, good people and they don't ask why I have fenders on my bike. They know their stuff, too and don't snub used stuff, so I try to support them and spend my dough there.

Something else I'm happy about is that my girlfriend loves riding bikes too. She's new to bikes also, because they don't ride bikes in Romania, where she's from. They snub them, she told me. Weird. But anyway, she's been borrowing my sisters old Raleigh mountain bike and loves it! She rode her first Critical Mass this last week which had an added touch with all the splendid Halloween costumes. Needless to say she had a total blast. So I've been building her a bike. She is afraid of top tubes, so rather than getting her a crappy bike that will frustrate her, I put the effort into making a nice Mixte framed Raleigh for her. You know, things like alloy rims, nice fatter tires to smooth things a bit, seven speed thumb indexed shifting. It's got good center pulls, so on went Kool Stop pads that work. Nitto upright bars. And we'll put fenders, luggage rack and a basket on the front too. Oh yeah- and the seat with the hole in the middle. But anyway,, just wanted to mention her because I love her and wanted to not come across as a macho male rider.

So, I look forward to more of bike forums and talking with y'all.

ciao,
Garth

Hmmmm...Garth. I get the feeling I might know you, or know someone who knows you (seriously)! A few of my good friends in Chicago are Romanian, and there's quite a big community of Romanians here (Taste of Romania, which is always a blast!!!).

Glad to see you here on the forums. We hope to see you posting soon!
