New NorCal cyclist here!
Well, it's been over 20+ years that I have ridden a bike more than 2 miles - and I promised myself that I would buy a new bike after I had lost 50 pounds - well - I now own a Giant Escape 2

I tried out several bikes, but this one spoke to me at my current level and it fits great! The LBS set me up with a basic fit, and I got the right gear; helmet (duh), cycling shorts, maintainence kit, etc - all the basics. I pledged to ride (what I thought was unrealistic) 200 miles in May - and here I am 230 miles later! WOOHOO!
I'm trying to start a new blog about my experience and just have some fun posting ideas, etc... https://toddchrist.blogspot.com/

Thanks guys - I'm really hoping the weather turns around the next few days, I'm really disliking the rain here right now!

up near Sacramento... the American River Bike trail is just phenomenal... I can't believe I've live here almost 16 years and never saw it (shame on me!)
