Howdy folks!
G'day all!
The best way to describe me is a Mega Clydesdale.
I am an ex-Rugby player (I played Lock and for those who don't follow Rugby think Lineman in football) who, due to an injury, kept the rugby diet but didn't keep the rugby exercise and let myself go from a girlish 280 lbs up to a fat b****** 380 now down to 369 over the last 6 weeks with a goal of back to 280.
Thanks to finding out that I could get the same "runner's high" I used to get on my 4-5 mile runs by riding my 15 year old mountain bike I am now in love with biking (well ok I am in love with and addicted to the endorphins and the bike happens to be my dealer )
I am now at the point where I am tired of dragging that 28 lbs bike up and down the hills I am riding and want to move to a road bike. I will still keep the old girl for weekend fun but want to switch to a road bike plus I need to educate myself on all things ride related. Hence why I am here.

Thanks guys!
10 Wheels- I read allot of the information there but thought that allot of the stuff pertinent to my situation was over 4 years old so I am hunting for revised data. Any thoughts?
GeoBigJon- Cheers! Good to know I came to the right place!

@10Wheels- Aye mate. Thank you. Already in plan. Fortunately for me there is a local custom wheel builder who is worth his salt. Its going to set me back about $900 for the pair but as you point out its critical and worth it.
