Hey guys (and gals), I've been reading up quite a bit and there is a lot of good information here. I've just recently got into cycling and figured this would be a good community to join in the process. I've been pulling about 14 miles each morning for the past few weeks on a trail bike (terribly noisy, and heavy :) ) and am going to bite the bullet on a road bike in a month or so.

My wife and I live in Birmingham, Alabama. We're both professional students and love to ride. I'm also starting to get back into shape! I'm 5'11" and was creeping too close to 200 lbs for my liking even though I have a stocky build.

Thanks for all the info I've received already! I hope to share some with you in the future.

I'll be sure to check out the south east section for sure! Is there something of a user map that is available? Such as a map with dots on the locations of members to see if anyone is in the general area?
