Hello from Northwest England

Stumbled across the forums by accident - it looks like a pleasant place so I've decided to stay.

I've been a cyclist all my life but am just commuting at the moment. I used to ride in the dirt quite a lot and would like to get back to that some day.

Current bikes are a 1990 model British Eagle road frame with even oldr handbuilt Mavic MA40s on Shimano 600s. These indestructible wheels have covered about 100k and have never needed anything more than an annual service and tyres. This is currently off the road as part of a project ot ocnvert to singlespeed but I'm having trouble finding parts (spacers etc) to get the chain line.

Also have a 1999 Trek 7000zx with one or two mods (nothing to get excited about though...) which currently rolls on slicks for my ride to work.

I love just about everything to do with bikes including repairs and maintenance - a source of equal parts frustraytion and satisfaction.
