I really don't know why I haven't registered to bikeforums.com earlier because I've read so many posts here over the past year. I started cycling last year after going on a couple of bike rides with some friends in the late Spring. I had one of those crappy $250 mountain bikes from Dicks Sporting Goods.
I was slowing the whole group down after constant problems with the gears. And the big knobby mountain bike tires wouldn't allow for speed. Then one of my buddies offered to trade for 10 minutes so that I could get a good feel of riding a nice road bike.
I couldn't believe the difference. After constant research, I bought a 2010 Trek 1.5 two weeks later. I never thought I'd spend $1000 on a bike, but it's definitely one of the best purchases I've ever made.
Now, I ride to work whenever I can and I'm always jonesing to hit the trails.
That's my story
