G'day from Adelaide
G'day all,
I stumbled across this site looking for some advice on road bikes.
I live in the southern area of Adelaide, South Australia and commute 20 km to work on an old Mongoose sycamore with slicks. I've just bought my first road bike, a custom frame with 105 STI gears for a bit of weekend fun. I aiming to build up for the public ride in a stage of the Tour Down Under, ~150km through the hills to the Barossa. I went on last years ride also, but only the half distance ~ 72km on the sycamore. It was great fun riding in a big group, passing the roadies on the climbs and then they would blast past me on the flats.
Anyway catch you round the forums

Hey elphyn, you might wanna keep your eye on The Aussie Thread in the Road Bikes section. Amongst all the BS and bravado they actually have a decent discussion on bike related stuff, especially as it related to stuff that's available in Oz + importing spec gear that you can't get. They even have a frame builder that posts from time to time! There's nearly 100 pages of stuff posted already but a lot of chat about a bike badsac was buying from page 70 to page 90. Anyway, have fun, plenty to see and do.

Gee, you blokes down south, don't know what you're missing, just have a look at the weather forecast for Queensland, sun, sun, and more sun, what more could a bike rider want, make a move you'll never move back again.
We had Robbie McEwan, Brad McGee, Baden Cooke, Alan Davies, all riding here on the weekend at the "Southbank Criterion" Alan davies won it with Robbie McEwan third, can't remember who was second but it was raining all the way and I mean "Raining", what happened to the sunshine?, the southerners brought the rain with them, that's what happened to the sunshine?
Catch yer round, wheel good, Daotenac, Queensland the only place to live, Mate?

170km in the rain on Sunday, and it was just beautiful.

So who built the custom frame? Why? What dimensions? What's it ride like? You know the drill... we want to talk about something other than CF and Ti. Cough up.
