Howdy from St. Louis
Hello, my name is Zach, I am just getting back into riding after many years. I just got my first road bike after only owning mountain bikes in the past. I find it a new and interesting challenge using the shifters on the frame as opposed to the shifters on the bars.
Here is my heavy pug I picked up.
She isn't a looker but a nice smooth ride.

Well to be honest I have a spot for bicycles my passion is just irresistible.
A change is always good since it gives you the opportunity to explore more.
I love the idea that you went out of your comfort zone and went for the "real bike" hehe....
From the look of it I can just feel the kind of fun you are having.

Took her for a quick 2 mile ride today. She is in pretty good condition for her age. Got the front wheel trued and bought some new break pads. Now she rides smooth and can stop on a dime. Few parts I plan to upgrade are:
Bar end shift levers
New bearings in the rear.(it spins nicely but the cassette has a slight wobble.)
New petals
Lights
New stem(the riding position is not comfortable, and there is no more room on the stem)

You have the secret to it.
Take of here in the best way possible and she will not frustrate you at any moment.
Give her a treat everyday and she will be so faithful to you.
