Salutations from Western Pennsylvania

Hello all. Just signed on last night. Here's a little about me.

I live in western PA. I'm in my late 30's and just started riding again in late July of this year after a 20 year hiatus. I was heavily into touring in high school. Here's how I caught the bug again.

My brother and sister-in-law, who live in WV, decided out of the blue to buy bikes to "get in shape." They wanted me to buy one to ride with them but I declined stating that it would just sit in the garage and collect dust, as would theirs. I finally caved after much coersing (sp?) and bought a used Schwinn Sierra comfort bike (which has since been converted into a MTB) for $75. I was immediately hooked. Within a month I was in the LBS buying a new hybrid (Trek 7000). I'm at 1206 miles YTD.

As a sidenote, my brother's and sister-in-law's new bikes are shoved in the back of their garage collecting dust.

Welcome! I did most of my growing up in Western PA (Indiana, PA). Western PA has so much wonderful biking... rails to trails (as covered in a recent post), lots of fire roads and single track, and endless miles of wandering country roads with low traffic. Man do I feel homesick! Glad you're back on a bike.

I will soon be in the same boat as you. I am moving to WV the first part of the year. I am really going to miss the rail trails. I'm trying to cram in all the ride time I can on them before the move.
