greetings from SF
Hello from hilly San Francisco. I've been lurking in these forums for a while and finally got around to saying hello. I'm a commuter/recreational road rider who's looking to get into racing (soon as I find the time and get my act together).
For the past year or so I only road fixies (for fun, fit, feel, and the fact that I perma-lent my road bike to a friend), but seeing what that could do to my knees when i do more than 2 50mile rides in a week I decided it might be time for a road bike again. That, and all my friends are slower than me now so I want to get into club rides and eventually racing (any suggestions for good clubs in SF?), and aside from alleycats there doesn't seem to be much of an outlet out there for fixed-gear road racing.
Current bikes: fixie-fied late 80's centurion (with extra stickers for theft-deterrence), 2004 bianchi pista (commuter and fast-fixie), and now a new 2004 Guru New Steel.
Good ride for me: the 50 mile rolling-hill scenic route from my house(Sf) to work(Cupertino) (avg speed: ~19-20mph on the pista. haven't done it yet on the guru). I was doing that about 2x a week until it got cold and I got busy at work.
So, Hello! See you on the road,
~Christon
