Jamie Noble/Editor Bicycle Touring 101
Hi!
I am Jamie Noble and I am a cyclist. I tour, commute, play on singletrack and ride on the pavement, snow and ice on a regular and ongoing basis.
I've fallen in love with touring by bicycle. My two longest tours include a trip around Lake Huron (21 days) and an adventure circling Lake Erie (12 days). At this point I am committed to completing my Great Lakes Circle tours with the circling of Lakes Superior, Michigan and Ontario.
I would also like to cross Canada by bicycle at some point in the relatively near future.
In addition to windsurfing, dirtsurfing and land kiting I also seem to be spending significant amounts of time creating a new website about Bicycle Touring. This website is geared towards providing information about Getting Started to beginners as well as providing much more detailed information about touring for more veteran cyclists. At this point there are about 110 web pages on the site. As time passes it will continue to grow.
The site is at https://www.bicycletouring101.com
In addition to Bike Forums I also hang out on a number of Mailing Lists including Icebike and the International Touring Bicycle Mailing List (Phred).

Maybe you shold bike across one of the great lakes. That would be an accomplishment. Some of my best rides and worst rides, have been traversing lakes around here. By the way, welcome to the forums.

I've been wanting to windsurf across Lake Erie for years. It's about 70 nautical miles across but I would likely have to go a further distance due to wind direction. Almost did it in 1998/99.

My next big tour will likely be another one of the Great Lakes. There is a lot of discussion on Phred about going around Lake Ontario as part of a big group of Self-contained/fully loaded cyclists. It would kind of be a group/individual tour.
I really enjoyed going around Lake Huron so another big part of me wouldn't mind doing Superior next!
