getting back on the bike

Hi,
I'm new here. I was lurking for a few days reading through the threads and decided to finally register. I've ridden bikes since I was little kid. I used to go mtn biking and mostly used my bike to commute from school to work to home. I had a Vega in college. but I got hit by a car and wrecked it. I quit riding for a couple years after that. but I missed riding so this past weekend I bought a new bike. It's nothing glamorous...just a cheap beater for now. I dont want to get anything too expensive or serious until I get my confidence back. I rode for the first time in a long while on Sunday...it was great. my gf urged me to get back on the bike. she even bought a bike for herself and wants to learn to ride with me.
fortunately I live in FL so I can pretty much so ride year round.

Hi there

Be very careful, Florida has the highest cyclist kill count in the USA.

Take care

yeah i know...i dont know a single cyclist who hasnt gotten hit by a car. they built a couple of new commuter trails in Tallahassee so i'm going to stick to those mostly. and theres a huge paved bike trail called St. Marks it used to be a railroad track, but they took out the tracks and laid down asphalt for people to ride bikes and rollerblade on. and i'll bike on FSU's campus for fun. i dont want to share the road with cars. because the drivers here dont know how to share......
i'm going to buy a bike rack for my car so i can take my bikes to paved paths. it's a pain, but i'd rather do that than risk my life on the road.
