Hello from Jersey!
Well, I've been lurking for...actually it's been so long I don't know when I started lurking.
I live in South Jersey and finally made the switch from mountain bike w/ slicks to my first road bike this summer...pure bliss, I tell you. Most don't understand though, "How much did that thing cost?!?" "I can't believe you wear that stuff!"
Heh,heh,heh...I love it!

Hey Nick,
I haven't really gone anywhere that requires the car yet. I like to just take the bike outside and ride it
I have been curious about the roads up that way though, interesting to hear about the bike lanes, food for thought. I live just outside of Cape May, so I just pedal around these here parts
Are there any clubs/group rides down here? I believe I read about the South Jersey Bike Club somewhere? I tend to be a loner though, a slow one at that, and God forbid I encounter an actual hill. You know, one that isn't a bridge, I hear they occur naturally in some areas, weird.

I'm not much of a club/group rider, I prefer solo or rides with the girlfriend, but I do know of a few in the general area. You'll probably still have to do a little driving though.

Cape May Co. has some great areas to ride, I've ridden around Belleplain St. Forest many times. I'm a little further north in Atlantic Co., so getting to the pinelands doesn't involve a car.
I recommend Cumberland Co riding. Lots a great roads with very little traffic. And a little more hilly than we're used to.

My main problem is I don't know any roads off the beaten path. I usually find a way to drive somewhere and stick to it...I do find myself taking different routes now that I ride hoping to find some nice low traffic cycling roads. I have a friend that lives in the Maurice River Township area...I'd almost be scared to ride alone up there though, it's way back in the sticks...

Glad you're no longer lurking. Haven't been in South Jersey for about 10 years now and then only for a visit. Used to live across the river in Bucks County. Now in AZ.

The site is "Temporarily Unavailable". I hate when that happens, I'll try again later. Sadly the friend that lives up there doesn't ride, not even close. So I'll have to suck it up and go by myself, I'll be sure to dump my car in his driveway though.
