Hello from Lower Alabama

I used to do some off road biking years ago but haven't done any in long time. Finally decided to get back into some kind of decent shape since my teenage son is getting really hard to keep up with now. I bought a Schwinn Prelude (and trust me, I know what it is) because I wanted to make sure I was going to enjoy road biking and keep at it before I dropped to much hard earned cash on a bike that might wind up collecting dust in the garage.

Well, 3k miles and more than a few pounds later I'm still riding and enjoying it more every day. I think I'll do some upgrades to the schwinn for now and try to jump on a new bike in another year or so. It really does ride nice and if it shifted a bit more cleanly I'd probably be 100 percent happy with it.

I also just became the owner of a Motobecane Grand Touring from the 70's that should be a fun restoration project. That's the biggest reason I joined the forums here.

Nothing wrong with that Prelude and the Moto is a great bike. The Grand Touring was their second from the top touring model, only the Grand Jubilee was better, and it's debateable which would make a better dedicated touring machine as the GJ was more of a sport tourer.

Do you have any pics of either of your rides?

I've never taken any pics of the prelude and I only have one of the Motobecane. I just picked it up this weekend so I haven't done much with it yet.

Here it is though.

Definitely needs some TLC but easily worth the effort. That bike will give you years of great service.
