Hi from Baltimore..sort of..
I live just outside the city on the south end...but close enough to see Camden Yards on a clear day! Found this forum while looking into buying a commuting bike. So far have found and used many, many usefull tips! This is a great resource here and thanks to everyone for contributing.
After searching and riding many bikes finally bought an '05 Cannondale Road Warrior from LBS. Great guys and service. Love the bike..have it just about where i want it. Stilll looking into fenders and panniers. My commute is 7-9 miles each way through hilly and mostly neighborhood type streets. I've been commuting 2-3 times a week for the past 3 weeks and am loving it! Riding through Patapsco State park on the weekends to work at my endurance levels as I want to start riding everyday and I need to lose a few
I used to race BMX as a kid then moved to mtb in college so this is my first experience riding streets really. Have to say the site has been great with the tips on riding in traffic and dealing with "cages". Also has given me a healthy respect for the potential danger you all encounter out there ! I've been pleasently surprised by my interactions with cars on my commute so far..hopefully that doesn't change.
Anyway enough blabbing..hope to contribute when possible....right now doing more listening/reading then anything..oh, besides riding that is!
my bikes are the Cannondale and a Specialized Rockhopper. REALLY, REALLY want a Surly Crosscheck...maybe next year.
