Rookie from SE Mass
Have been riding bikes for almost 50 years and now realize that I don't know Jacksh--. Well we all have to start somewhere. Rode a mountain bike for a few years on some great trails in Ithaca NY about a decade ago and loved it. Now I live in a flat area and Mountain biking is less fun (read no hills) and I am too lazy to pack it up to travel. So I have just traded in my Raleigh Record for a used 1998 Trek 2300. Got good advice and some confidence from RonH on this site so I would like to say thanks. Hopefully I will get hooked but initially I'll just be using it to get some excercise in the middle of the day to ward off old age. My main summer activity is windsurfing but unfortunately the wind doesn't always blow so I need a low wind sport. Am not looking foreward to the toughening of the perineal area break in period. Got a decently padded pair of bike pants, hopefully it'll help. Well, wanted to say hi and thanks and hopefully I'll get hooked on biking once again. Jay

Welcome to the forum!
I'm not sure where you are in SE MA...but FYI-there are some nice road riders in the Narraganset Wheelmen Club in RI. They host "The Flattest Century Ride in N.E." It's a good time, you can choose to ride 25, 50, 75 or the complete 100.
I hope to see you on the road, I head to Horseneck Beach in the summer (with my bike, of course!)

Another Windsurfer! Well, I'm actually an ex-windsurfer!(Do you ever become an ex-windsurfer, I hope NOT!) Sold all my gear about 3 years ago! It was getting old and I couldn't afford to keep buying gear for 2 addictions. I chose cycling, I could do it more often and wasn't so dependant on the wind! I hope to pick it up again when I have a bit more disposable income!
