Lifetime biker, new to the forums
Hey all, I'm a not-quite-30 year old woman hailing from the Southern US. I've ridden for fun and exercise since I took the training wheels off at 7 and for many years the bike was my main mode of transportation in decent weather. I have a Concord Freedom Deluxe made in 1980 passed down to me from my grandmother that I have just brought up 2 flights of stairs to use with a trainer. I've never really worked on this bike and since it's in my living room for reference I've been doing some research on it, and riding it of course, and having a great time. Nice to meet you all!

Thanks for the welcome, guys! My grandma gave me the bike after I'd moved out of my parents' and couldn't afford a car, of course. Since then I've had many cars but this bike is sticking around! I've owned it for about 11 years.
Amazingly I don't think this bike weighs more than 25 lbs all told. I don't know my own strength at times but I can easily lift it over my head with one arm. I've carried it up many flights of stairs and the size is a bigger problem than the weight of it (56cm frame). I spend more energy trying not to beat up my legs with the pedals or let the headset swing around and hit me than I do coaxing it up steps. Grandma's a tall lady, I'm not as tall as she is but I have long legs so I'm very grateful to be riding a "man's" bike. I've got the flu at the moment but I'll be taking pics and posting them up in C&V shortly! |
