Hello from the Hudson Valley! Looking for advice.
Hey there-
Long time casual rider looking to start some longer distance road riding to get into shape. I adore my 80s Schwinn single-speed, but it's time to get something else for the longer, hillier rides.
I found a Trek frame locally that I have been considering fixing up on a budget for now. I also stopped by a local bike shop and they suggested I test ride a few bikes to get a feel for what I like, but sized me up roughly to a medium Giant Defy 5. At this point, even the Defy 5 would stretch my budget, but in a few months, I could likely afford something more upscale (still a student, working only part time).
I'm fairly handy and upgraded some of the components so I'm not worried about assembling a bike myself. I'm more concerned with the bike riding well and being the appropriate size. I'm open to any guidance or suggestions.
Thanks in advance for the help and I'm looking forward to learning from this site.
