Howdy all

Howdy all,

My name is Shawn. I am 27 years old, male and I live in southern Illinois (USA). I joined because I would like to get into cycling and I need help with it as I haven't rode a bicycle since I was a young teenager. I am wanting to exercise more and cycling was recommended to me plus I like exercise bikes so I think I would like cycling just as much if not more.

A bit about me... I am a very laid back country boy. I love the outdoors, love fishing, camping, hiking, driving my 4x4 down back roads and somethings getting into some mud. I am educated and currently going for my PhD of Management concentrating in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. I am a certified Skywarn Storm Spotter and with the local Disaster Response/Emergency Management Agency. I am also a long time storm chaser and have chased tornadoes and severe weather all over the USA.

I am a security manager at a cable manufacturing plant. I have quite a few years of security/investigations experience as well as training and an associates degree in criminal justice. I am also a big time member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the Masonic Lodge and other groups.

I am also a nerd, haha. I run message forums (of all different topics), developing a forum software, design/photoshop junkie, Nikon DSLR junkie and programmer. I am even the official webmaster for the city I live in.

Thanks for having me

Welcome to the forum, Shawn!

Tornado chasing sounds a bit scary to me.

What kind of bike are you looking for?

It can be scary However, after doing it for nearly 15 years (since I was young teen), you get more comfortable around them. The thing I hate is when it destroys property and harms people I would rather just see them moseying along an empty field and then dissipate once they reach population.

I just posted a thread on asking about a bike in the mountain bike section, figured it was more appropriate to post there.

Thanks for the welcome! Looking forward to being a member here
