Thresher From DFW
Hello all. Found this forum with the trusty help of Google. Recently got a Nishiki Olympic 12 from my father and cleaned it up this weekend. I believe the bike even still has the original tires but a little dry rotted. Not too big on road bikes since I'm 6'2" 240lbs but I would like to find out more about this bike. Maybe how I can give it a thorough inspection and possibly sell it to get a decent ($300) mountian/off road bike so me and the girlfriend can go ride. . I found one online that is exactly the same bike on oldbikesbelong.com selling for $350. If anyone can help me out with any information that would be great.

Welcome to the forum! It's a nice bike you got there. It's a Large frame too. You could definitely ride this guy. For the price I sold a similar frame for 70 last summer. Over here I could probably get about 200-250 for it.

You gonna eat that?
I had a 1983 Olympic 12; yours looks a little later than that- mid-80s. Nice bike. Does it have indexed shifters? Do a search on "Nishiki Serial Number Database" in the BF Search Engine and you should find a thread of Nishiki fans that can give you more info.
You can post your request to the Appraisals thread to get it to the right audience.

Welcome aboard! Man, that's a tall frame! I'm rather stumpy myself.
If you post in the Classic and Vintage sub-forum, you can probably get some more feedback on the bike. It's a nice road bike, but I'm not sure it could get $300, however. Not unless those are vintage Campy parts hanging off of it. I'm guessing it's fitted with Suntour, from general appearances.

Went to the one in Arlington off of Green Oaks. Was looking at spending around $800 on a bike. One guy was helping a customer with a bike and nobody else was around. I love good customer service since it lacks so much around here, so I just walked out. I ended up doing some research and buying an airborne zeppelin elite 21" online. Seems to be a perfect beginner bike. My girlfriend ordered one also but in 17". I will make a seperate thread on here about the build. Still can't find anyone to buy the Nishiki. If anyone is interested, please send me an offer. Not willing to ship.
