My name is Ruben Anthony. I starting to get into bikes when I was younger but I haven't gotten into buying, collecting and fixing, or at least try to fix my own bike since a couple years ago. I live in Venice beach, where bike is the fastest way to get Anywhere, especially during the weekends and Abbot Kenny festivals.
I got into bikes a lot more around the time I lost my car,(Not lost like I misplaced it, my Pop wrecked it.) I couldn't just get another one because Mostly all my money goes either into my house where my live or books for School. Since then I've had my hands on a bunch of bikes, mostly Schwinn bikes because I prefer them. I rode and fixed lots of cruisers but I recently got into other kinds of Schwinn bikes. Last year around September I bought a 1975 Blue 3 speed Schwinn Speedster, All original for $69. Found it in the corner of my eye in a swap meet. I thought it was cool because the gears were built different then other bikes i've seen. I fixed it up a couple little things with the help from the homies at Manny's bike shop down the street and now I take it everywhere, and everywhere I go I get a comment on it.
Last weekend I found another bike similar and around the same year, an old 10 speed military green Schwinn Surburban that came with an old looking Schwinn approved Wonder bike light and an older looking thing next to the front wheel that shows you how many miles the bike has on it.it looked really junky because the pedal and fenders were duck taped to the body and been like that for some time. I cleaned everything up, got it working and its fun as hell to ride. I hardly took it out and about and two random strangers asked me about it. The reason I join this forum is to get some information on these bikes i'm working on. I want to get both of them in perfect working condition but still keep that tough rusty old feeling that everyone loves. would anybody happen to have any tips? Or maybe know a website where i can look up the serial numbers?
