Bike Forums - Hi (Sawasdee) from sunny Thailand

I moved from Los Angeles to Bangkok nine years ago. This was the last major move in my life.

Born in Portland, OR, then Beirut, Lebanon, then Bangkok, Thailand, then Portland, OR, then Philadelphia, PA, then Los Angeles, CA, then Vientiane, Laos PDR, then Bangkok, Thailand.

During this time, I went through a number of sports, tennis and swimming in high school in Bangkok, cycling in college in Portland, skiing during graduate school in Philly and work in Los Angeles. The serious skiing ended with a partial ACL tear. The trip back to Vientiane and Bangkok, with the 100 F and 100% humidity weather, together with my bum knee, started my indoor sports period - tennis and swimming.

Recently, with my sons a bit more grown up, I decided to re-start cycling seriously. Well, seriously is relative - I still have young children - 1500 miles in Aug-Dec 2011 but with a 5000 mile goal this year.
