New from Eau Claire, WI
New guy here. I'm 27 and from Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Loved being on a bike when I was a kid. I was always running around town on my bike. Well I got older and I lost track of how much I liked it. I also packed on a few pounds after 2 kids, marriage, and getting out of the Army.
I made a resolution to change my life this year. So far I have lost 41.2lbs and am smoke free!
The weight loss is really starting to slow now (I am now 5'10" 171.6lbs). I decided that I needed a new hobby, something that I could really devote myself to, that would also help me stay in shape.
Soooo, I took a drive to my LBS and with my somewhat minimal budget, ordered myself a bike that I thought would be great for me. It was a 2012 Specialized Allez Compact in black/charcoal. I picked it up about two weeks ago and went back a few days later and picked up a seat bag and spare tube, Co2 inflator, tools, helmet, shoes, blah blah blah.
Well after I got everything I ordered and had things all ready to go, I finally took her out for her maiden voyage! I did 16 miles my first day out. Right away the next morning I hopped back on and put another 22.5 miles on (sit bones were a bit sore for the first mile or so).
I decided I wanted a little more bike... nicer components than the Shimano 2300 that was on the Allez and I thought a 10 speed would be nice.
So back to the store I went and this time I test rode 4 or so more bikes. Turns out I like SRAM components (not really the apex though)
I ended up returning the Allez and ordering a 2012 CAAD10-4 in bare aluminum. I can't wait for it to get here!
I am really committing to this!! I want to ride about 150-200 miles a week.
Sorry for being so long winded haha... any advice from you guys? Any online shops that are good to work with (not that my local shop isn't great!)? A motivational speech perhaps? I kid I kid
Thanks
