New the the forum & always excited to ride
Hi Everyone!
I'm new to the bikeforums website and hope to gain some valuable insight on touring. I've been cycling for about 10 years now. I do it all - road cycling, mountain riding, cyclocross races, fixie fun, and touring. Right now I'm planning a tour across the United States (coast to coast) and I'm interested in other folks' experiences. So far, I'll be doing most of the tour alone, and as a female I'm especially interested in the safety precautions that one should consider while on tour. As an experienced cyclist, I feel as if I have done the best that I can do in terms of planning and preparation for the trip, but any advise is graciously accepted!
I can't wait to read what other people have to say on similar issues!
Cheers,
Lauren

Welcome to the forums! My sister rode across the country--twice, but both times with a group. The last time she was involved in a cycling accident and had to cut the trip short. (Hum, those were supposed to be words of encouragement...) You might also visit CrazyGuyOnABike.com. It has lots of tales about people touring, including women on their own. Good luck on your adventures!
