Hello Cyclists
Hi! I'm a 17 year old guy who owns a 80's (I think) Motobecane Mirage. It's probably not fitted to me properly but I've had it for years and just recently I've been riding much more often and applying maintenance and upgrades. It started really as commuting to school and back, I've been doing that for a few months and more recently I would like to get into bike racing. But it seems on all of the YouTube videos that bike races involve modern bikes, clubs, and probably proper training. The most common race in my area (Philadelphia) seems to be criterions, so I guess I would enter the Men's category 5 for that?).
Well anyway I'm really having fun in this bike world even when I lose a piece of my bike which for some reason happens a lot (duck tape often works)... Looking forward to meeting you bicyclists (online and locally) and learning about what it means to bike for enjoyment.

Welcome aboard.
A good way to start racing may be time trials. You an race against yourself, seeking to beat previous times. I'm just a recreational rider, so I really don't know how to start with racing.
