My name is Sue and my husband and I live in the bike friendly town of Port Townsend. We use our bikes for transportation while having part ownership in a vehicle that is part of a car sharing arrangement. I am proud to say that we have not used the car since October and I am trying to convince my husband that we can do without it all together. We are planning our first vacation on our bikes. We plan to bike to Vancouver Island and travel to some of the Gulf Islands. This will be a first for us, I hope we enjoy it so we can plan a longer trip next year.
I have 3 bikes, a surly big dummy named Url, a road bike named Bee and a old commuter bike named Monty. Don't you just love riding a bike!

Welcome to the forums! I always respected everione who created the couple of cyclists and began to travel by bike together.

Hello Sue. Yes, I do just love riding my bike...and I love having escaped from the $1,000+ a month it was costing us to support 2 cars. We rent a car when we have to have one, which so far has been about 10-20 days a year @ about $60 a day, $25 of which is ins. (including liability) - far less than the cost of ownership, and much less stress and worries. I am so impressed that you are going to attempt a car free vacation. Can't wait to show your post to my honey tomorrow.
