Thanks for the opportunity to join this site. I hope I can add to it along with learning from it.
Presently my riding is with road bike clubs for longer rides and with a friend for shorter 'city' rides.
This winter I'd like to begin building up a new bike for the city rides. This includes bumpy streets
and some serious hills too. It seems a logical bike choice is something like a cyclocross vehicle.
This would be a mixture of road and mountain components but not up to the point of suspension.
Having never done this before, the building, I'll need plenty of help and advice.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to conversing here about all things bikes.

Wow. Building your own bike will be a great winter project. The folks in the "mechanics" forum often have good suggestions if you run into problems. Have fun.
