Hello
Hi, here's everything about me.
I live on Bainbridge Island, near Seattle and I ride once or twice a week on a Trek Mendota. I’ve been taking a spin class since September and it has really changed my riding. I’m 73 and I’ve ridden since I was a kid, but never really understood spinning until taking the class. I’m getting better at spinning all the time, but it is still not second nature and I’m not sure whether to spin or stand on hills. I try both.
My wife doesn’t ride anymore due to knee problems, but we used to do a lot of rides all around western Washington on our tandem recumbent. We did some coastal tours too. The recumbent was her idea. About 10 or 12 years ago she found that she could no longer tolerate a wedgie saddle, so we got the recumbent and she was fine. Besides Washington, we have lived in Maryland and Montana and we did a lot of riding in those places (on upright bikes).
Since she no longer rides, I’ve gone back to an upright bike, with upright bars. I love it. I ride here on the island and also in Seattle on the extensive bike trails and also on the streets in the city. I’d like to return to the extensive road rides that she and I used to do on rural roads, but I probably won’t go by myself.
I am interested in what people on the forum have to say about different types of bikes, handlebars and ways of riding. I will probably post some questions eventually and I want to post pictures from my rides.
I used to tour with my wife or my son or by myself. I’d like to get back into it. I’ve toured mostly on the coast, but I’m looking at some rides in Eastern Oregon.

Welcome to the Touring forum. Age doesn't dictate what type of riding you should pursue or enjoy. There are many of us that are over 60 that still enjoy touring, some only do relatively short ones, while others still ride across countries. Do what you enjoy, it's not a race and it's the best way to really see and appreciate an area.
